Bio: After completing my education, I began teaching Music in Seine River SD in 1990.   In 1991, I moved to Hanover  teaching special education, segregated behaviour, and finally grade 2 at Woodlawn.  In 1997, I began a consultative Behaviour position at Student Services. Many of these years have been on an 80% contract.   This position has allowed me to work in every single school in Hanover, yes every single school...and Student services.  Recently, I have been teaching  grades 5/6  Remotely as part of the HSD Remote School.  I have seen intimately, the issues relevant to Early years,  Middle years, High School, Specialists, Clinicians, part-time and remote teachers.

I began HTA in the early ‘90s as a school rep then served on executive for about 20 years in the roles of teacher center chair, benefits chair and most recently as Secretary.   I have worked as an executive under nine different Presidents.  This has given me invaluable insights into what does and doesn’t work with regard to running our association.  It takes many people to run an association, not just the people that speak during our AGM meetings.

My personal life has involved many years as President of Steinbach Minor hockey, and various other board positions.    This has provided me with skills to manage emotionally charged topics in a professional manner.

Born and raised in the southeast and am very aware of navigating the cultural and political landscape.

I reside in Steinbach with my husband.  Together, we have two young adult sons and a labradoodle.

Electoral Statement: Why vote for me?
  • ADVOCACY -I have spent my life advocating for the “underdog.”  I will fight for injustices.- That is what I do!.
  •  INTEGRITY, HONESTY & TRANSPARENCY - I say it like I see it,  in a professional manner.  Some people find that uncomfortable but if there is nothing to hide, it's open communication.  You want a President who is able to ask the questions that need to be asked.
  • SERVE ALL MEMBERS OF HTA -   I will respond  within 24 hours to each member.  I believe that all queries and concerns are that important; it doesn’t matter who you are and in  which school you work.
  • PROFESSIONALISM - as an association it is important to create a public professional environment that is maintained by the president on a daily basis.   We need to make our office space something that represents our association and is used on a daily basis.
  • HARD WORKING - I know how hard our teachers work.  Our teachers don’t stop working when the bell rings. Neither will I.
  • IMPROVED HTA VISIBILITY, INTERACTIONS & COMMUNICATION - attend all meetings & sessions that Presidents are invited to attend.  Not only provides current information but builds relationships with other associations.   I would also look to increase the social media presence of the association.
TIME FOR CHANGE & ACTION - We are changing...it’s coming.  We need someone to navigate change and promote action. NEED Terms for office to promote to action.  (MTS  has 2 terms)  I AM CHANGE.
